Why You Should Add Ice Water Facials To Your Self Care Routine.
Have you ever considered dipping your face into a bowl of freezing cold ice water? Well, let’s just say it’s not at the top of MY bucket list. However, skincare gurus such as Tarah Roman of Inside & Out, swear by it.
“I can testify that is really does work and it really helps with all of that. Same reason they tell you to wash your face with cold water and the ice or crying rollers exist”
— Tarah Roman, Licenced Esthetician
Ice Water Facials Are Legit.
So, as it turns out, ice water facials are one of the best skincare secrets out there. They’re also known as ice dunking, ice cube facials, and skin icing. Not only do they leave your skin glowing & soft as a baby’s rear- but they also help improve your mood & better manage your stress levels.
Before You Watch My First Ice Facial Experience…
There are some things you should know about me.
I hate touching cold things.
I always ask for NO ice in my drinks. (Especially my ice coffees.) I’m Florida born & raised- and this girl has cold-blooded plasma running through her veins.
However, I try to never let my fears or discomfort get in the way of me fulfilling my life’s dream of living my healthiest, happiest & best life.
So… of course, I had to try an ice water facial.
And film it. You know… just for a little extra motivation & accountability.

Benefits of Ice Water Facials.
Now, in case you haven’t connected the dots… ice water facials help you physically, as well as mentally! (My favorite!!)
Here are 10 reasons why you should be doing them on a regular basis.
For Your Skin…
- Smooth, tight skin
- Smaller pores
- Reduced puffiness
- Decreased oiliness
- Decreased inflammation
- Increased blood flow
- Decreased wrinkles
- Decreased acne & blemishes
- Reduced hyperpigmentation & scarring
For Your Mood…
- Dunking your face in ice water can help reduce feelings of anxiety, panic, and emotional overwhelm.
- This is because it increases your endorphins and neurotransmitters meant to keep you calm & happy!!!
How To Do It.
- Fill large bowl with cold water and ice cubes.
- Dip your face in for 15-30 seconds (be sure to hold your breath!!) Repeat 2-3 times.
- Repeat once daily for best results.
Alternatives To Ice Facials.
Just an update.
I tried doing these damn ice facials for 7 days straight.
Are they really THAT bad? I don’t know. I guess it depends on the person.
But for me? I’ve come to the conclusion I want something easier and less messy.
(And that’s okay. I mean, we don’t even have ice maker lol! That’s how little I need or use ice.)
So, thanks to some lovely suggestions by other fellow skincare enthusiasts, I’ve found some suitable (and equally effective!) alternatives. Find them below.
